Best Practices for Creating the Mobile Version of a Page in GreatPages

The Desktop and Mobile versions work together, but they can also be created separately.

To make it easier to create both versions, whenever you add elements to the Desktop version of a page in GreatPages, all of those elements are automatically added to the Mobile version as well.

This means that any changes you make to the Desktop version of the page will also be applied to the Mobile version.

The same applies in reverse. If you add new elements or edit existing elements in the Mobile version, those changes will also be applied to the Desktop version, except when moving or resizing elements.

For this reason, the best way to create both versions of your page is to complete 100% of the Desktop version first. Once it is ready, you can begin creating the Mobile version.

When you start working on the Mobile version, we recommend clicking the “Rebuild mobile” button. This allows the system to better arrange the elements within their respective blocks, making them easier to organize.

If you want to add elements that appear in only one version, or create different elements for each version, use the Hide elements feature.

If you delete elements instead of hiding them, keep in mind that they will be deleted from both the Desktop and Mobile versions. Therefore, whenever you want to use different elements in each version, follow the recommendation above and hide them instead of deleting them.

Another relatively simple feature that can make a difference when organizing the Mobile version of your page is Group and Preserve aspect ratio.

You can find these features in the Desktop editor when selecting more than one element at a time. They are mainly used to keep multiple elements together as a group.

When you enable the Aspect option, the group of elements will adapt to the size of the mobile screen. Therefore, use this feature only when the group of elements is less than 360 px wide.
Otherwise, the elements may appear slightly distorted.

IMPORTANT: We recommend editing the versions with only one editor tab open. Having two editor tabs for the same page open at the same time may cause editing conflicts. We also recommend that only one person edit the page at a time, as two people editing the same page simultaneously may also cause conflicts.
